Review: Altruist Moisturising Fluid – My Women Stuff

altruist moisturising fluid review

Over the many years of dabbling with skincare, running the gamut from budget pharmacy brands all the way to the pinnacle of luxury brands and products, I now find myself in the enviable position of not caring where it comes from, as long as it works LOL! 😛

These days, as I don’t throng the malls as often as I used to (I haven’t been to one in months!) I’m out of touch with what’s new out there. I therefore find myself turning to my trusted online vendors to pick up my skincare products when I’m running low.

That’s how I came across the Altruist Moisturising Fluid.

Altruist Moisturising Fluid – 0.5% Hyaluronic Acid

If you think the name sounds familiar, that’s because it’s from the same brand that makes my current favourite sunscreen – Altruist Sunscreen SPF50. I use it daily, and it still protects my skin from the harsh sun that I am exposed to in my new line of work and life.

I figured that if they made such a great and affordable sunscreen, I could trust them to make a decent moisturiser.

Altruist says that they use low molecular weight hyaluronic acid which penetrates deeply into the epidermis, and it is designed to create more youthful, radiant looking skin.

What really caught my attention was how simple the product is. This is truly a moisturizer in every sense of the word.

Truly a moisturizer

I liked the simplicity of the cream. It is a fluid moisturiser as the name implies, and to me, feels light. It is enriched with hyaluronic acid and has as its goal, to moisturize the skin.

Well moisturised skin means that the skin will be plumped up, thereby diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This automatically translates into more youthful looking skin, which is what everyone wants.

I liked how the Altruist Moisturising Fluid does do that. On my drier skin, the fluid applies smoothly over the skin and sinks right in, plumping up the skin and keeping it well moisturised throughout the day. I tend to use this as a day moisturiser, even if it can be used day and night. For my night-time routine, I usually need something a little heavier.

That said, I did try using it day and night for a couple of weeks, and it does work well enough for me. I do not wake up to taut, uncomfortable skin at all and my skin feels well moisturised. My day and nighttime skincare routine is now pretty pared down, so I use a minimum of serums. I have primarily depended on a good moisturiser to keep my skin feeling plumped, and I’m happy to report that this one does.

I do use a significant amount of moisturiser each time, using the 13-dot technique. Yes, I’m still using this technique, and it’s still serving me well! Is this what makes a difference to my skin? I don’t know, but I can say for sure that I’m definitely using enough product each time.

I don’t find it too heavy for daytime use although if you have normal or oily-combination skin, you may and you may then find yourself using less product, for which I feel is a disservice. I wouldn’t recommend the Altruist Moisturising Fluid to anyone with oily skin as I think you’d dislike it, especially in our tropical weather. Those with dry skin might appreciate it better.

Not a fan of the tube packaging

I’m not a big fan of the packaging however, as I find the contents a little too fluid and liquid so you do tend to either squeeze out too little or too much product each time.

That said, I do like the slim tube for portability, as it is very handy and does not take up much space at all. Perhaps if the tube opening was a little smaller, so it’s easier to control the contents, it might work better.

I otherwise have no complaints about what is a basic, simple moisturiser that does what it says on the bottle – moisturise. I like the texture, the fact that it has no scent, and how plumped it leaves my skin. It is a simple, basic moisturiser, but sometimes, that’s all our skin needs 🙂

IN A NUTSHELL

The Altruist Moisturising Fluid is a day and night moisturiser. It is fairly basic and simple, with hyaluronic acid as its key ingredient to keep skin plumped and hydrated. I like the texture that is fluid yet not too light for drier skin types like mine. I use it primarily in the day and it does not leave my skin feeling oily or greasy. If anything, it keeps my skin moisturised and plumped all day long. I have used it at night and it feels sufficient. It is simple and basic, but it does the job and that’s what really matters most!

I bought this to try because I got tired of all my products with ‘actives’ in them, and this one was such a pleasant surprise find. It’s not a big brand, but the products have wowed me thus far. I can see myself sticking to using their sunscreen and moisturising fluid for the near future! The plus point of course, is that it is very reasonably priced, and who doesn’t love an affordable and good product eh? 😀
